Roscommon wins the Maire Allen Memorial Cup

Friday 20 September became the highlight of the year for Roscommon Special Olympics Club when they took on the local Garda Síochána in their much-anticipated annual football match.

This year it had a special focus as they were playing for the Maire Allen Memorial Cup in honour of the founding member of the club who unfortunately passed away last September.

The Roscommon Special Olympics athletes won the 4-in-a-row, so the cup will stay in the club for this year. The Gardaí are already looking forward to next year’s challenge.

Brian and Lisa McGarvey from Barcode Solutions sponsored the jerseys which are a fitting tribute to Maire’s Dream Team.
