Athlete Focus - Health Messenger - Danielle Cantwell
We wanted to highlight the wonderful work of Healthy Messenger, Danielle Cantwell this month - focusing on her wonderful message helped us to promote Healthy Eating Day on November 6th!
“My Name is Danielle Cantwell. I live in Rochestown Road Cork. I am a member of the Leeside Legends Special Olympics Club in Munster. The sport that I am involved in is athletics, where I do the javelin and the shot put".
"Health is important to me because I want to stay healthy by eating healthy food and exercising to stay fit. I wanted to become a Health Messenger so I can teach my fellow athletes how to get fit by taking part in exercise and how to maintain a healthy diet.
I am going to promote a healthy diet and the benefits of following an exercise program to make other athletes aware of the importance of their own health so that they can be more energetic and do their best in sports.”
A Health Messenger is a Special Olympics athlete who has been trained as a health and wellness leader, educator, advocate and role model within their Special Olympics clubs and the wider community at large.
