Progress and pride at the Connaught Annual Regional Meeting

The Connaught Annual Regional Meeting took place at the Connacht Hotel, Galway on Wednesday 26th March, featuring a great turnout of athletes, coaches, volunteers, parents and guardians.

Athlete on the Committee, Patricia Larkin, kicked off the event by welcoming everyone, and she introduced Regional Chairperson Evelyn Bohan to give her address.

The 2024 regional report was delivered using a colourful presentation with many photographs included.

Aideen Harkin, athlete with Athlone Special Olympics Club, was presented with her Athlete Leadership Silver Award which is a great achievement.

Kathy Fulcher, Health & Wellbeing Manager, gave a fantastic presentation on the various programmes on offer to athletes, and Health Messengers Patricia & Joe were on hand to give their experiences to date.

Máire Connolly, her mother Ber and father Mick were in attendance. Máire was a member of the Team Ireland Ski Team that just returned from the World Winter Games in Turin.

Máire won a gold and bronze medal. Myra Merrick, Regional Director, presented a photo block of Máire in action on the slopes.

As a special surprise, Shane Filan from Westlife sent a video of congratulations to Máire which she was delighted with!
