Brilliant basketball action at the Regional Basketball Qualifying Event

A Regional Basketball Qualifying Event took place on 22nd March in Knocknarea Arena, ATU, Sligo. 

The bustling event featured eight male teams and five female teams from seven clubs: Sligo All Stars, Shoot ‘n’ Stars, Galway Tribes, Galway Globetrotters, Athlone SOC, Ballina SOC and Longford Phoenix. The event was a key opportunity for the Special Olympics Basketball clubs to showcase their talents. 

The atmosphere was electric as clubs and families cheered on their teams, with thrilling games and intense competition throughout the day. 

A special mention to Sean, David and Amanda who had a memorable birthday celebration with their friends on the day and enjoyed a slice of birthday cake during the break.

Basketball is rapidly gaining momentum in the region with a number of new clubs competing for this first time. Much of its success can be attributed to the hard work and dedication of all the coaches who are helping to shape the next generation of players. Thanks to all involved including volunteers, coaches, clubs, families and organisers for making this Qualifying Event such a success. Well done everyone!
