On the 5th of March Special Olympics Ireland held the 2010 Men’s and Women’s Football Cup competition in Loughlinstown Leisure Centre. 6 teams competed in the women's competition while 7 teams competed in the men's competition.

The 21st FAI International Football Awards took place on the 6th of February live on RTE. Among the nominations on the night was Mary Strain from the Northwest Special Olympics Club who was nominated for the FAI Football for All International Player of the year.
