The Basketball and Football Awards Night was held on Monday, 28th September at the Clayton Silver Springs Hotel in Cork. This was one of the biggest awards nights held with over 285 athletes, coaches and volunteers attending. Invited guests were treated to dinner before the Awards Ceremony. Johnson and Johnson were the sponsors on the night with many staff helping out. Athletes were presented their medals by Cork City player Dan Murray , FAI Development Officer Dave Bell and Munster Regional Director Eóin Ó Béara. All athletes had their team photographed on the night too. The night was topped off with music by DJ Ray Scully and the rest of the evening was danced away.

Shaun Hennessy, Sport Regional Development Officer for Munster, said it was one of the most enjoyable nights he had and all who attended seemed to have a ball!

Just under 100 athletes were in attendance and took part in a variety of Run, Jump, & Throw stations with the emphasis on fun and getting everyone active. Thanks to all the local volunteers and the students from Athlone Community College who helped on the day to ensure all ran smoothly.

The highlight of the day was a team relay activity which all athletes participated in after lunch. A coaches pack with a variety of drills and activities will be forwarded to all after the event.
