Congratulations to Sports Club 15 who celebrated their clubs 10 year anniversary last Saturday, 10th May.  They definitely celebrated in style at Weston Airport where athletes and some of the clubs volunteers got the chance to enjoy a flight from the airport.  Well done to all those who volunteered from Weston and from Sports Club 15 to mark the occasion in such a memorable way.  Have a look at some of the photos below.

On Monday 12th May the members of Kenmare Golf Club hosted the area Golf skills competition for Special Olympics Munster. There were 48 athletes present on the day and the excitement reached fever pitch when a surprise guest Kathryn Thomas of the 'Voice of Ireland'  arrived to take part in the Opening Ceremony. The frequent showers did not dampen the enthusiasm of the volunteers and athletes on the day and there was a great sing song started while the athletes were waiting for their awards. The guest presenters on the day included Kathryn Thomas, John Brennan from 'At Your Service', who made an appearance and members of the GUI and the ILGU were on hand to award the prizes. A great day was had by all. You can view all the photos from the day here....

Just under 100 athletes were in attendance and took part in a variety of Run, Jump, & Throw stations with the emphasis on fun and getting everyone active. Thanks to all the local volunteers and the students from Athlone Community College who helped on the day to ensure all ran smoothly.

The highlight of the day was a team relay activity which all athletes participated in after lunch. A coaches pack with a variety of drills and activities will be forwarded to all after the event.
