Regional Family Events
One of the ways in which we have increased networking among our families, and informed them of the workings of Special Olympics, is through our annual Family Event.

Family Services
Our Regional Family support team actively hold family service areas at various regional events each year. Our team also have merchandise available (click here to see merchandise available) at each family service area. In 2011, our team have held family service areas at the following events:

Regional Family Team
We are currently in the process of establishing a Families Committee Team in the Eastern Region for 2012/ 2013. The Families Programme vision is to ‘engage and encourage family members of athletes to become involved with Special Olympics and encourage them to support and contribute to their athlete, their Club and Special Olympics Ireland’.
The Families Committee team will act as a representative for family members within the region and assist with co-ordinating the Families Programme which will involve sharing and developing ideas to further enhance the programme. If you are an enthusiastic, motivated individual who may wish to get involved in this programme or if you would like further information on the programme, please contact Claire Grehan (Regional Development Officer): claire.grehan@specialolympics.ie / erfamilies@specialolympics.ie/ (01) 8912009.
Regional Family E-Zine
In 2011 the team developed the idea to create a family ‘E-Zine’ which is like an online newsletter which can be sent directly to all registered family members who have an email address.
Our Regional Family E-Zine will be sent once a month to all family members, each month will have a specific theme (e.g. sport, divisioning, honest effort, 15% rule, etc) where we will aim to answer common frequently asked questions by family members in order to educate families on any queries they may have in relation to Special Olympics. This E-Zine was developed by families, managed by families and received by families.
